Poverty, according to the United States government as defined by Lyndon Johnson when he pushed his “Great Society” initiative that became mired in the swamps of Vietnam, is a state of deprivation, lacking the usual or socially acceptable amount of money or material possessions. The most common measure of poverty in the U.S. is the "poverty threshold" set by the U.S. government. This measure recognizes poverty as a lack of those goods and services commonly taken for granted by members of mainstream society.

Poverty
Trump, Pence, Pompeo, John Bolton, Steny Hoyer and the Hitlerite
Eliot Abrams are making the pitch to the world as their reason for
orchestrating the overthrow of the governments of Venezuela, Cuba and
Nicaragua ( by coup or direct war) that they have some kind of
humanitarian interests in helping the poor.

Over forty-million of our fellow citizens right here in our own country
are forced to endure poverty because these same lying imperialist
morons who claim to want to help people in poverty in Venezuela, Cuba
and Nicaragua have never lifted one little finger to alleviate, let
alone eliminate, poverty right here in our own country. Only a complete
fool can fail to see the outright hypocrisy in all of this.
