The role of fear in promoting war

Have you noticed how Trump is trying to prevent people from going to certain countries?

They first make people fear the people in these countries by telling you that you will not be safe in these countries.

If we are afraid of people then it is easier to justify war.

How patient are you?

How many generations must we wait for real health care reform?

Can your health wait?

Consumer debt in the United States hits...

$13.6 trillion dollars

Hong Kong

The problems in Hong Kong have their roots in British colonialism but you would never know this from the mainstream media.

Health care for all the people not for profits for the few.

When I asked Ted Kennedy back in 1972 when Democrats were going to enact Medicare for All he told me that we had to be patient.

Well, back in 1948 Harry Truman ran on a platform which included Medicare for All...

That was seventy years ago.

Does anyone know how many people have suffered and died for lack of health care during these seventy years?

Will the Democrats tell us how many families have lost their homes and everything they worked a lifetime for in order to pay health care bills over this seventy year period?

Will Democrats tell us how many families have had to file medical bankruptcies over these seventy years?

Medicare for All has been the Democrats favorite election gimmick to suck people in. They had no intent of enacting it seventy years ago and they have no intent of enacting it today... not even if there wasn’t one single Republican in Congress.

Frances Perkins placed a National Public Health Care System on the agenda back in 1936 and the Democrats rejected it...

We need to place a National Public Health Care System on the agenda today by building a movement pushing for:

Publicly financed health care.

Publicly administered health care.

Publicly delivered health care.

There is nothing controversial about such health care...

As Frances Perkins pointed out, such a health care system is based on the model of public education and no government program works better than public education.

Now...

The Democrats have never delivered health care reform protecting all of us because their main claim is that it is too expensive.

But...

They have never questioned the cost of militarism and wars nor suggested we have neighborhood and community health care centers across the country providing free health care while creating over twelve million good jobs paying real living wages...

Instead of our tax dollars paying for over 850 U.S. military bases dotting the globe on foreign soil...

We would get about the same number public community health care centers providing the American people with free health care... and for a much lower price.

Imperialist militarism and wars has a very real cost...

Do you want militarism and wars or health care?

Demand that a National Public Health Care System be funded by a Peace Dividend... that Peace Dividend Democrats promised us, just like Medicare for All, exactly seventy years ago, too.

We didn’t get a Peace Dividend.

We didn’t get Medicare for All.

What we got was a great big national debt the bankers and the Wall Street merchants of death and destruction profit from.

Instead of wasting our time supporting these worthless Democrats we should be organizing a massive People’s Lobby to demand a Peace Dividend to pay for a National Public Health Care System.

Medicare for All is nothing but a gimmick and a scam... don’t be sucked in by the Democrats... even if enacted it would be no better than the present Medicare system, which, by the way, Democrats working with Republicans have been wrecking instead of improving... huge payroll taxes still rising, Part B premiums sky high, huge co-pays, the need for very expensive supplemental insurance, no coverage for many very basic health needs like dental and hearing.

I challenge anyone to claim a National Public Health System is not better alternative than Medicare for All which leaves the private, for-profit health care system intact for the doctors, administrators and bill collectors, hospitals, nursing homes and pharmaceutical companies to continue enriching themselves at our expense.

Doctors are bankrupting Medicare and Medicaid because instead of the government setting the fees for service, the American Medical Association establishes fees and under the Medicare for All legislation the American Medical Association would continue to set the fees.

Iran

It's like these idiots won't be satisfied until they are in a war with Iran.

Let’s Talk About the Politics and Economics of Livelihood and what we socialist can do

So, Facebook has denied me the right to create a new page entitled, “Let’s Talk About the Politics and Economics of Livelihood.”

I set up the page and made a post and the Facebook censors shut the page down about half an hour later.

This is what I had posted as the first post:

Any legitimate electoral struggle mobilizes people for action at the polls and mass action in the streets and at work and in the schools and neighborhoods.

This is where I think Bernie Sanders and other Democrats claiming to be liberal, progressive or left show us they are not actually interested in building real people’s movements.

Bernie Sanders claims a circle of one-million supporters but makes no attempt to mobilize these supporters to do anything except go to the voting booth.

Every one of those people have a circle of family, friends, neighbors, fellow students or workers... so the influence goes way beyond the one-million.

Any legitimate people’s electoral movement must bring people into the streets to back up its demands.

This is the only way struggles are ever won.

In fact, the Democrats don’t want people in the streets because those people will take on Democrats as well as Republicans over issues of peace, social and economic justice... we saw this with LBJ.

If one examines history we see this during the 1930’s, the movement against the Vietnam War and the Civil Rights Movement, too.

It takes persistent and sustained struggles to win.

Now, consider if Bernie Sanders was to help organize a new party which viewed things in this way.

We would have a huge movement of well over twenty-million people which would grow even larger the more we pushed our demands.

Notice: I never said “pressing the flesh was without merit” in the electoral arena... but, it must be combined with mass action.

And the reason for using social media like Facebook, blogging and blogtalk is to mobilize people for mass action... mass action, something Democrats want to contain to electoral struggle.

Because, again, these Democrats are afraid that a fully mobilized people will act against their own neo-liberal imperialist Wall Street agenda.

We need to build socialist political education and action committees to initiate these kinds of struggles based around the politics and economics of peace and in defense of our rights and livelihoods.

We need real health care reform. Medicare for All is a concept conceived for well-heeled upper middle class people... what we working people really need is a National Public Health Care System:

Publicly financed.

Publicly administered.

Publicly delivered.

Not for profit.

Free for all.

Any government with such a bloated military budget that can afford war after war and over 800 military bases dotting the globe certainly can afford to place a public health care center in every single neighborhood and community providing free health care for all.

The model of public education works for health care, too. But, instead of funding it through regressive taxes fund it with a huge peace dividend.

Then look at Social Security. No one should receive less than $2,700.00 a month and the age of retirement should be lowered to 58.

As far as this $1.4 trillion student loan debt there should be no garnishments of wages on anyone with an income under $40,000.00 a year.

No more wars, tariffs or sanctions.

People and our living environment before profits.

Think about this... we can’t continue to allow a bunch of greedy Wall Street millionaires and billionaires along with their over-paid pundits and muddle-headed upper-middle class management stooges to do our thinking for us.

We need a nationwide network of socialists... small groups of people who help each other learn and understand issues... meeting around kitchen tables... writing letters to the editor and distributing leaflets... tabling.. informational picketing and demonstrations.

Book clubs. discussion groups, roundtable discussions, organize debates.

One by one and we begin to add up... just like a little raindrop, alone we don't amount to much; but let it pour.

Socialism is working class power.

Thursday, May 30, 2019

Form the "New Deal" to the "Great Society"... now is the time for socialism.

We have had “The New Deal” with Franklin Roosevelt. Most Democrats and Republicans opposed the New Deal reforms... it took huge coalitions led by working people and their organizations militantly fighting to force this package of reforms through Congress.

Then we had “The Great Society” with LBJ. Again, huge coalitions; this time of the working class and the racially and nationally oppressed people, forced Congress to implement reforms when Democrats and Republicans balked.

Now it’s time for “Socialism.”

Only a massive anti-monopoly/anti-imperialist movement led by a militant united working class can achieve socialism which is all about taking political and economic power out of the hands of the Wall Street exploiters who are the warmongering merchants of death and destruction keeping us on the path squandering the wealth worker’s create on militarism and wars instead of providing the kinds of socially useful and necessary universal social programs which will enable us to live in peace with the rest of the world in a society without poverty- in a society which provides us all with a decent high quality life with a good public education (pre-school through university), a National Public Health Care System based on the model of public education (publicly financed, publicly administered and publicly delivered), a National Public Child Care System, affordable housing and mass transit and real living wage jobs for all with the mines, mills, factories and the banking and energy complexes along with transportation coming under public ownership and democratic control.

We need our own working class based people’s party and a vast network of working class and community based socialist organizations in every workplace, neighborhood and community colleges and universities to win socialism which is working class power.

What you can do:

Start a socialist club where you live or where you work or go to school.

Begin a monthly book club taking up these issues. There are many good books to use like “Madam Secretary, Frances Perkins” by George Martin or a new book by Robert Caro, “Working.” These book clubs can be held in a home, church, library, union hall or community center or even at a picnic table in a public park.

Initiate public forums and round-table discussions around these questions.

Write a letter to the editor.

Circulate leaflets; ask relatives, friends, neighbors and fellow workers to sign petitions advocating for these universal social programs... don’t settle for the campaign gimmicks brought forward by the Democrats to hoodwink us out of our votes.

We must get people thinking beyond war and focused on peace. Put people to work solving the problems of people and society.

We need to get people thinking in terms of a National Public Health Care System not this phony Medicare for All which leaves the for-profit health Care System intact.

We need to get people to understand that the Minimum Wage must be based on the real and actual cost-of-living and legislatively tied to the changing cost-of-living factors and not some figure pulled out of a hat by opportunist politicians at election time- politicians who have no idea about the daily struggles of working people trying to make ends meet from pay check to pay check or worse yet, trying to live without a job, without a pay check.

We need to advance the idea that Social Security must become not a miserly monthly check but a real living income providing people a decent quality life in retirement and old age.

We must insist that there be a moratorium on all student debt collections while a solution to this problem is found and all student debt collections must immediately be taken out of the hands of the banks and private debt collectors who are acting like mobsters employed by loan sharks.

The defense of democracy is an important and integral part of the struggle for socialism. As such, Trump must be impeached and removed from office--- lie after lie, sanctions and tariffs instigating wars, an administration embroiled in corruption.

Democracy requires the full participation of working people in all decision making processes--- political and economic.

What happened to Lyndon B. Johnson's "Great Society"?

Forty-seven percent of the American people now tell the pollsters they are willing to consider voting for socialists for public office... these are your relatives, your friends, your neighbors and your fellow workers; these are the people we must bring into active struggle for socialism. Give these people something to think about by printing off these three articles on your printer and putting them in their hands for consideration... invite them for a discussion:

No one is going to build a movement for socialism for us; as working people we must do this together.

Each one of us is like a tiny little raindrop, we don't amount to much... but, let it pour!

Let's talk about the politics and economics of livelihood... the working class socialist politics of peace, equality and prosperity for all of us who create the great wealth of this country.

Capitalism is the system of exploitation, wars, racism and poverty through which the Wall Street bankers and employers get rich.

Socialism is a cooperative system based on peace, full equality and prosperity for all.

People before profits!

A thought about democracy from Canada

Glen Wreggitt from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada wrote this comment on Facebook which I think we need to discuss very widely. I would encourage you to share this thought widely:

Democracy doesn't mean the same thing to them as it does to us. To them, a democracy is a country that is 'open for business', which means 'open for exploitation'. A 'dictator' to them is someone who was democratically elected and makes policies that raise the standard of living for their people instead of 'opening the country for business', the business of enriching American corporations at the expense of the people.

Tolkien

We just saw the movie “Tolkien.”

It was a good, but slow moving and often boring, love story and anti-war movie.

There was only a very slight hint that Tolkien built his own stories around the Finnish Kalevala... the epic rune of the Finnish people’s Long enduring struggle of good versus evil around which the Finns created their powerful Communist Party and revolution that was drenched in blood.

But, I guess we can’t expect the Hollywood crowd to provide reality and truth... especially when it comes to war and the people’s struggles against the evils of exploitation, war, the destruction of our living environment and oppression resulting from slavery, feudalism, capitalism and imperialism.

I would recommend, in addition to reading Tolkien people check out the Finnish “Kalevala” and the “Communist Manifesto.”

Will jobs ever "return?"

Trump has lied about “bringing factories back from China.”

In fact, the Chinese own at least 51% of these factories.

So, what this means is that American corporations can leave China but they can’t take the factories and machinery or technology with them.

The factories will continue producing the same products and these products would have a competitive edge against any similar products produced here... good luck with that.

In addition, these manufacturing facilities set up here will not require many workers as we can seen from the new Stanley plant which intends to produce Craftsman tools in Dallas, Texas... this plant will employ few workers while using a very automated production process based on Artificial Intelligence where automation, robotics, computers are brought together by Artificial Intelligence.

And China is light years ahead of the United States with Artificial Intelligence.

For our own good... We had better learn to get along with China.

Jobs aren't going to "come back."

New jobs may be created but if they are, workers are going to have to militantly assert their rights in the workplace... fewer hours, more pay; decent working conditions, etc.

Steve Bannon

Steve Bannon continues to speak for the Trump Administration when it comes to trade with China and the guy has a few loose screws upstairs.

The Hollywood scene

Since Weinstein stopped producing movies it seems the quality of movies regarding any social content has severely deteriorated.

Hollywood has had a very weird culture for years yet no one ever took to prosecuting any of the other culprits.

I’m wondering if censorship isn’t behind the attacks on Weinstein?

This is not to suggest anything Weinstein may have done is okay.

But what is with all this crap coming out of Hollywood? Are there no screenwriters capable of depicting how rotten this system is? Or, is Hollywood involved in a massive campaign to divert people’s attention from their real problems?

Something all socialist working class activists might want to think about...

People are wasting a lot of time with the Democrats.

We should be putting some efforts and our limited resources into building socialist clubs in our communities, neighborhoods and where we work.

These kinds of clubs composed of a few friends meeting once a week, every couple weeks or once a month working together in an organized way can accomplish quite a lot.

But let's not get sucked into building the party of our employers, the Democratic Party... let these Democrats fend for themselves the same way they let us workers fend for ourselves.

Democracy is for those who can afford to pay on Facebook

Facebook only allows you to “boost” your posts and pages if you pay them but they don’t tolerate digital leafleting; repeatedly sharing posts which they can’t profit from.

This is capitalist “democracy” in its finest and most hypocritical form: pay to participate.

To the millionaires and billionaires even democracy becomes a commodity to be bought and sold in the monopoly manipulated and controlled “free” market.

The wealthy have their kids working as legislative assistants for members of Congress

Did you ever wonder why when you contact your member of Congress you end up getting some arrogant creep on the line?

Well, it turns out most of these staff people are the children of the rich who are placed in these offices to make sure only those who are well-heeled and likely to make very substantial campaign contributions like themselves get any input.

Democracy U.S.A. style...

Democrats in Texas and around the country are complaining because they have been out gerrymandered by the Republicans.

And these Democrats have the nerve to talk about elections in other countries, like Venezuela, being undemocratic when there is all this gerrymandering taking place that creates rigged elections and outcomes right here in our own country.

Between big money influence in elections and the gerrymandering of districts one would be hard-pressed to find a country where the elections are more corrupt and undemocratic than right here in our own country.

Oh, but wait... then we have the Democrats and Republicans working together in collusion to deprive other parties and independents from obtaining ballot status.

And, on top of this, we have the local Democratic Party (just like the Republican Party) organizations conspiring to prevent democratic primaries where like we had with the Beto O’Rourke campaign for Senate where the local and state organizations protected Beto from having to debate his primary opponent Sema Hernandez thereby freezing voters out of the democratic process.

And then the voters are blamed for the losses because they don’t turn out to vote because they feel, and justifiably so, they have no say or a voice in anything.

Hands off Venezuela!

The imperialist think tanks never stop thinking about their next “humanitarian intervention” and war... its the Allen and John Foster Dulles mentality brought forward today by the likes of Donald Trump, Mike Pompeo, John Bolton, Steny Hoyer, Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi who choose a guy like Elliot Abrams to carry out their dirty deeds.

A military intervention would be worse than a “mistake.”

It would be a very well thought out and planned criminal endeavor... a crime against humanity.

I find it interesting these imperialists never contemplate normalizing mutually beneficial peaceful relations with other countries making the decision to take the path to socialism as the best way to encourage democracy.

They never consider the right to choose between capitalism and socialism a democratic right of a sovereign people who have the right to self determination.

I have yet to see one single article from these people at this think tank from the Council on Foreign Relations who publish Foreign Affairs ever suggest that taking the socialist road is a democratic right.

These Wall Street imperialists are such arrogant hypocrites such thinking, in relation to all their high-sounding and pious talk about democracy, never even crosses their minds; and they don’t even have the ethical and moral clarity in their thinking to understand that what they are plotting is a crime.

End the sanctions.

No military intervention.

It was nothing but a litany of lies.

Lie after big lie and the lies got bigger the more he talked.

What's new? Another day another scandal; another reason to impeach Trump.

Now there is a new scandal brewing around Trump with a madame who used to manage a brothel claiming she has been selling Chinese investors access to Trump.

Another reason to impeach.

A discussion were Bernie Sanders' supporters

A Sunday morning thought...

I will vote for Bernie Sanders when he is actually running for president but the Democrats will never allow him to get the nomination... that’s one reason so many Democrats each with their own constituencies are running... as they drop out they will endorse who the corporate Democrats have probably already chosen for us.

So, if Bernie Sanders really wants to run for president he will have to help start a new working class based people’s party.

But, I think it’s good people get involved in supporting Bernie Sanders because it will be an educational experience in how the Democratic Party is just another Wall Street party... the educational experience is good for people, especially for those who are slow learners.
I believe Bernie Sanders has entered this race to keep people trapped in the Democratic Party.
We are headed for Trump getting a second term and this is why he needs to be impeached and removed from office now; before he can do more harm.

Bernie Sanders isn’t very honest, either. He is pushing this scam of Medicare for All without telling people that it will come with its own huge monthly premium for most people... it will be publicly funded only to the extent everyone’s premiums are placed in a pool controlled by the government and paid out through a joint government-private administrator and the delivery will remain free-market for-profit.

Of course, none of his supporters will ask him this specifically just like they don’t ask him why he voted to fund a new generation of nuclear weapons and modernizing a military committed to imperialist interventions and wars.

I could go on and on and explain how his stands on other reforms are less than worthy of our support although they are packaged in a way they sound liberal, progressive and even left.

But, then again, Bernie Sanders has never initiated any kind of legitimate round-table discussions seeking input before bringing his schemes forward, has he?

If he did, he would get an earful; he would hear what he doesn’t want to hear... an honest discussion from grassroots and rank-and-file working class activists.

For instance; on health care he would hear about the need for a National Public Health Care System- publicly funded with a huge peace dividend together with a great big tax on corporate profits and a very small payroll tax, about one-tenth of the present Social Security tax, publicly administered without any corporations or banks profiting from the administration of the health care program... and publicly delivered by doctors, nurses and other health care professionals on the public payroll just like public school teachers- a system based on the model of public education but more progressively financed and with administrators committed to the National Public Health Care System not those constantly trying to undermine it. In fact, this is what any kind of socialist would be advocating and it would gain the support of the overwhelming majority of the people in this country and advocating such a health Care System would rebuild the historic coalition of liberals, progressives and leftists which would carry us forward to really solve many other problems and get us off this capitalist road to our demise and on the path to peace and socialism.

It is very telling that Bernie Sanders is so dishonest he doesn’t provide the particulars of funding for his so-called Medicare for All... and, besides, Bernie Sanders has been part of the Democratic Party caucus in Congress that has whittled away at Medicare with higher co-pays and allowing the doctors to establish their own fees... something Bernie Sanders has never so much as mentioned. Instead of improving on Medicare for All over the years the Democrats have made it more expensive for working people in their retirement years.

As far as Bernie Sanders and his stance on the Minimum Wage... he refuses to support making the Minimum Wage legislatively adjusted to the actual cost-of-living. This is the only fair solution.

On jobs, he is just like the other politicians... he talks about “jobs, jobs, jobs” but refuses to bring forward legislation that would make the President and Congress legislatively responsible for attaining and maintaining real full employment at real living wages... something Henry Wallace was advocating way back in the 1940’s when he broke free from the Democratic Party and ran for president as the candidate of the Progressive Party which brought together liberals, progressives and leftists.

Bernie Sanders has no solution to the crisis robotics, automation and now the merger of these with digitalization and artificial intelligence is about to have... how will worker’s losing their jobs live, what will be our quality of life and standard-of-living if we don’t nationalize the major corporations and bring them under public ownership and democratic control... which Bernie Sanders has adamantly stated he is opposed to doing?

We need real socialism not nice-sounding phony schemes if we are going to survive and live in a world at peace based on mutual respect and cooperation.

Bernie Sanders is playing a divisive role as he tries to separate socialists rather than bring us all together. There is a model in this regard and it was the very successful cooperation between socialists and Communists who built the Minnesota Farmer-Labor Party into a united working class based people’s party that took in liberals, progressives and leftists as it elected two governors and all kinds of other politicians from township supervisors to members of Congress... only the most sectarian leftists stayed aloof from this party and refused to participate... this is the way forward.

Bernie Sanders and his supporters, and grassroots Democrats seeking honest politics, should be encouraged and welcomed into such a movement... but this won’t happen on its own... it needs to be talked about, discussed and debated in public forums... we need to bring this discussion into the public square very forthrightly because it is in the public square where this discussion belongs.

Honest people will welcome this kind of discussion not try to shut it down.

Cuba's Ambassador to Canada responds to this CBC News

Cuba's Ambassador responds to this CBC News tendentious and manipulative article, "Canada at odds with Cuban 'ally' over Maduro's fate."

Ottawa, March 3, 2019

To the Editor of CBC News

I reject categorically and in the strongest terms the tendentious and manipulative article "Canada at odds with Cuba 'ally' over Maduro's fate", written by journalist Evan Dyer and published today, Sunday, March 3, 2019, by CBC News.

Good journalism does not speculate, it informs objectively.

The assertion that thousands of Cubans would allegedly be inserted into the structures of the armed and security forces of Venezuela, holding the government of (legitimate) President Nicolás Maduro, is a scandalous slander. I demand that CBC News present a proof, which evidently it does not have, since it does not appear in the whole article.

What Cuba has been offering Venezuela for many years is a modest cooperation, in which slightly more than 20,000 Cuban collaborators participate, 94% of them health workers, others in education, as they do in 83 countries around the world.

It is unfortunate that CBC News plays into the hands of the government of the United States, whose President happened to accuse Cuba a few days ago of maintaining a “private army” in Venezuela, a statement that is vile.

It is regrettable that CBC News does not denounce the US government's military aggression plans against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, and the fact that it openly declares that its ultimate objective is to overthrow the Cuban Revolution. What else to expect from a sinister character like John Bolton, who in 2002 organized the coup against Venezuela, while accusing Cuba of developing a biological weapons program at a time when the false pretext of the presence of WMD in Iraq was fabricated to launch the war against that country? The latter lie was quickly denied by the US Intelligence Community itself.

Let's hope that CBC News, with its biased coverage, does not support the aggression of the United States against the peoples of our America, and then apologize, as so many media organizations had to do after the war against Iraq. Our peoples will not forget.

As the Cuban Government recently stated, what is at stake today in Venezuela is “the sovereignty and dignity of Latin America and the Caribbean”…, “the survival of the rule of International Law and the UN Charter”… “and whether the legitimacy of a government emanates from the express and sovereign will of its people, or from the recognition of foreign powers”. “History will severely judge a new imperialist military intervention in the region and the complicity of those who might irresponsibly support it”.

Josefina Vidal
Ambassador of Cuba to Canada

"Dictator"... or anti-imperialist working class leader?

CNN and the rest of the media continue to refer to Nicolas Maduro and Kim Jong-un as “dictators” and Donald Trump as “President” even though Trump is nothing but a racist, con man, cheat, grifter, racketeering mobster, moron and all round despicable excuse for a human being who is pushing the country towards fascism and the world towards World War III which will be a nuclear holocaust resulting in a nuclear winter... the ultimate climate change.

Now, I ask:

How do Nicolas Maduro and Kim Jong-un compare to this authoritarian tyrant who is able to claim the Presidency only because the Democrats ran the only candidate they possibly could have who had no chance of winning because she was more disliked by the American people than Trump?

Neither Venezuela nor North Korea are dictatorships by any stretch of anyone’s imagination... in both countries the working people and farmers fully participate in the decision-making process over everything that affects their daily lives at work and in their communities.

What these two countries have in common is that every major capitalist country is trying to bring both of these countries to their knees in order to punish them for having the courage to break free from imperialist domination and build societies based on people’s needs using the wealth of their countries instead of allowing these resources to be stolen.

Keep in mind, there isn’t one single country which has broken free from capitalism, colonialism and imperialism where the leaders of those countries have not been described by those loyal to Wall Street as being “dictators.”

We have a “President;” they have “dictators.”

And what do these same loyal servants of Wall Street call any workers anywhere who rebel against capitalist exploitation?

“Dictators?”

I maintain from my working class view of things that these “dictators,” so described by this corporate media, are merely leaders of working class struggles having freed themselves from capitalist exploitation and pillage... these socialist and Communist leaders deserve our support and solidarity.

Kim Jong-un’s grandfather and Ho Chi Minh... leaders, along with Mao, of the anti-imperialist struggles in Asia... first routing the Japanese, then the U.S. imperialists. The Vietnamese, under the banner of socialism, successfully united their country divided by imperialism... the Koreans will eventually unite their country under the banner of socialism, too.

U.S. Representative

“What if there are new elections and Maduro wins again?”

Isn’t it interesting that when these over-paid Democratic Party hacks turned media pundits like CNN’s Jake Tapper question John Bolton and other politicians about Venezuela and this call for new elections...

They never ask them:

“What if there are new elections and Maduro wins again?”

Make no mistake, Maduro just won re-election and now anyone can see that since he has stood up to Trump, Pence, Bolton, Steny Hoyer and this Hitler loving piece of shit, Elliot Abrams... now the bus driver the people brought to power is more popular than ever.

Venezuela is a country of thirty-million people as compared to the United Sates with over three-hundred million people...

Now, I ask: Has anyone ever seen so many people in the streets of this country as the huge throngs of people who are turning out to show their support for Maduro?

Perhaps Trump would like to compare the number of people who turn out for his fascist rallies with the number of people who turn out to support Maduro and oppose U.S. imperialist sanctions and intervention through coup attempts and threats of war.

Now, let me remind you of how the United States ended up in a never-ending war in Afghanistan working in league with a bunch of poppy-growing drug peddlers...

Remember, the people of Afghanistan freely elected a revolutionary socialist to lead their country... a leader the United States summarily described as a “dictator” even though his most major “crime” was to enact legislation giving women the right to vote and go to school.

This “dictator” ended up being chained to a truck and dragged through the streets of Kabul only to end up being beheaded and having his genitals cut off and hung from a pole in the city center... this was the fate of the medical doctor, Dr. Najibullah Ahmadzai, who fulfilled his campaign promises of bringing education and health care to the people of Afghanistan...

Remember this great man, Dr. Najibullah Ahmadzai, and what happened to him at the direction of the CIA... oh, wait... it was Elliot Abrams who suggested Dr. Najibullah Ahmadzai should be beheaded and have his head hung from a pole with his dick shoved in his mouth.

I notice the media has never published a photo of Elliot Abrams’ handiwork in Afghanistan nor does anyone want to talk about this gruesome barbarity.

We need a Peace Dividend

Is there a better use for all this money?

American Military Dominance In One Staggering Chart
Defense spending accounts for about 20 percent of all U.S. federal spending.

Bernie Sanders and militarism and war and the Peace Dividend we are entitled to

After voting for defense budget after defense budget Bernie Sanders now declares as he announces another bid for the Democratic Party nomination for president:

“Today, we say to the military-industrial-complex that we will not continue to spend $700 billion a year on the military — more than the next 10 nations combined. We're going to invest in affordable housing, we're going to invest in public education, we're going to invest in rebuilding our crumbling infrastructure — not more nuclear weapons and never-ending wars."

I’m wondering if Bernie Sanders is serious or if he is just trying to keep peace voters and activists sucked into voting for Democrats?

After all, Bernie Sanders did vote FOR escalating the nuclear arms race by voting for a defense budget that funded this new round in the escalation of the nuclear arms race and his party, the Democratic Party, repeatedly supports more money for armaments and war while doing nothing to advance an agenda based on the kind of human needs he is calling for.

Bernie Sanders does not even support building a people’s lobby to effectively pressure Congress to pass the kind of legislation that would “beat swords into plowshares.”

I question whether Bernie Sanders has an altruistic motivation or a very hideous motive behind his new found “peace agenda” since he has previously been so adamant in not introducing this kind of idea to the politics of this country.

But, whatever is motivating Bernie Sanders in making this statement we should welcome this declaration and move forward in building some kind of massive people’s lobby for peace and social and economic justice that Bernie Sanders and the warmongering Democrats and Republicans who are bribed by Wall Street’s Military-Industrial Complex to support.

So, whether Bernie Sanders is now sincere or not shouldn’t really matter because his one voice is no more effective than any of our own if we speak on our own... we need a massive people’s lobby independent of the two Wall Street warmongering parties to fight for such an agenda.

I wonder why in the CNN Town Hall Bernie Sanders never mentioned that a Peace Dividend would be used to finance his reforms? Will he continue to repeat this? Hopefully so.

U.S. household wealth posts record loss in fourth-quarter amid stock rout

Business News

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. household wealth fell by a record $3.8 trillion, or 3.5 percent, at the end of 2018, and corporate bond issuance plummeted as a global market rout threatened to weaken a near-decade old recovery, the Federal Reserve reported on Thursday.

In percentage terms, it was the worst quarterly blow to U.S. household finances since late 2008, when the U.S. was in the midst of a deep global recession and household net worth fell roughly 5.9 percent in one three-month span.

But in terms of the wealth lost on a dollar basis, at least on paper, it exceeded the $3.6 trillion decline in the fourth quarter of 2008 for the biggest loss on record.

Corporate bond issuance for the year also reflected crisis-era conditions, with the worst full-year performance since 2008 as well. Overall corporate borrowing did rise as credit flowed from other sources.

Still, those results from the Fed’s quarterly Flow of Funds report shed light on the financial sector tremors that prompted Fed policymakers to put further rate hikes on hold as they assessed the damage.

Amid widespread fears about the impact of a global trade war, slowing growth, rising central bank interest rates, and other risks, Fed officials also worried that declining household wealth would translate into less spending and slower economic growth.

Those fears appear at least partially warranted as retail sales and business investment weakened at year’s end.

Weak U.S. hiring adds to global slowdown fears

The report said household net worth fell from around $108 trillion to $104.3 trillion over the final months of the year, a drop that included a roughly 14 percent fall in the value of stocks and mutual funds. The value of household real estate rose slightly.

Stock prices, however, have significantly pared the losses from the fourth quarter, with the S&P index up about 9 percent this year.

About $300 billion disappeared from the cash and liquid holdings of nonfinancial corporations in the fourth quarter amid the equity slump and tightening credit conditions.
