We need more public voices for socialism

Many who call themselves progressives and leftists, not just liberals, are failing to act in solidarity with Maduro and the Venezuelan people... and the people of Cuba and Nicaragua who Trump has in his cross-hairs, too.

The fact remains, without a very vocal, active and strong Marxist working class party leading mass organizations in all spheres this will continue to be a big problem. Just look at all these people who self-identify as various kinds of socialists who won't even stand in solidarity with Maduro and the Venezuelan people at the very time the Wall Street imperialists are actively trying to instigate a coup... shameful and disgusting.

We need to bring socialism out into the public square where it can be vigorously discussed and debated.

We need a discussion about what socialism is and why we need it.

We, as Marxists, need to struggle against this backwards thinking in our own ranks that socialism is some kind of long-term remedy when just the opposite is true if we are going to survive.

As we work to build solidarity with the people of Venezuela, Cuba and Nicaragua now defending their socialist revolutions we should be thinking about what kind of working class Marxist organization we need in our country and we should be laying solid foundations for such an organization in every community, school and workplace.

I would invite people to consider working to build locals of the Socialist Connection Action Network (Socialist C.A.N.)

Read and study about socialism.

Write wherever you can in support of socialism; explain what socialism is and why our very survival depends on replacing capitalism with socialism.

Speak out vigorously for socialism.
