Resolution on Repealing and Rescinding “At-Will Hiring and At-Will Firing”
Where as the Doctrine of “At-Will
Employment” is undemocratic;
Where as “At-Will Employment” is
the main and primary obstacle to union organizing;
Where as employers use “At-Will
Employment” as a means to coerce workers not to report health and
safety violations in the workplace;
Where as the United Nations' Universal
Declaration of Human Rights declares it is the right of all to fully
participate in society and "At-Will Employment" prevents this;
Where as “At-Will Employment” is used to silence workers in the communities where they live in a way which prevents their full participation in the political process with an intent to solve their problems;
Where as “At-Will Employment” is used to silence workers in the communities where they live in a way which prevents their full participation in the political process with an intent to solve their problems;
Where as “At-Will Employment” is
used to enforce racist and sexist discrimination in the workplace;
Therefore, be it resolved that “At-Will
Employment” must be rescinded and repealed and replaced with the
protection of “Just Cause” legislation;
Therefore, be it resolved that this
becomes the position of the (name of party/organization here).
